Intent
At Huncote Primary School, the Geography curriculum is designed to inspire children’s curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, igniting a lifelong love of learning. Geography sits at the heart of our curriculum, enabling pupils to explore over 20 places across the United Kingdom and every continent, deepening their understanding of diverse environments, cultures, resources, and communities. Through the study of both human and physical geography, children develop essential knowledge and transferable skills that support learning across the wider curriculum. As an inherently investigative subject, geography encourages pupils to ask questions, think critically, and build a secure understanding of key physical and human processes, as well as the interactions between people and the planet. Our intent is to equip children with a strong sense of place—locally, nationally and globally—while fostering environmental responsibility, global awareness, and an understanding of their role within an ever‑changing world.
