Welcome to Huncote Pre-school

At Huncote Pre-school, we believe every child deserves the very best start to their educational journey. Our vision is to provide a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn.

We recognise and celebrate every child as an individual, supporting them to become confident, independent and caring members of our community. Through high-quality teaching, purposeful play and meaningful experiences, we develop the skills children need to thrive both in pre-school and as they move into Reception.

Most importantly, we want every child to enjoy their early years and develop a genuine love of learning and school.

Our Curriculum

We focus on developing the fundamental skills that all children need for future success.

Communication and Language

Children develop their speaking, listening and vocabulary through high-quality texts, nursery rhymes, storytelling and language-rich interactions. Our Little Acorns also begin their Foundations in Phonics journey, helping them develop early literacy skills and confidence ready for school.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Through stories, circle times and carefully planned activities, children learn to understand and manage emotions, build positive relationships and develop resilience. We encourage independence and support children to become confident advocates for themselves.

Physical Development

Children enjoy daily opportunities to develop their physical skills through our excellent outdoor provision, PE activities and our popular Wiggle Me Into a Squiggle sessions. We place great importance on developing both fine and gross motor skills through active learning and play.

Part of the Huncote Family

As part of Huncote Primary School, our pre-school benefits from being fully integrated into the wider school community. Children have opportunities to participate in whole-school events, become familiar with the school environment and build relationships that support a smooth transition into Reception.

Admissions

We welcome children from 2½ years of age.

  • Children may attend morning sessions from the term after their 2½ birthday, subject to availability.
  • Full-day attendance is available from age 3.
  • We offer places funded through the government’s Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE) scheme.
  • Eligible children can access:
    • 15 funded hours for eligible 2-year-olds
    • 15 funded hours for all 3 and 4-year-olds
    • 30 funded hours for eligible working families of 3 and 4-year-olds

Opening Hours

We are open Monday to Friday during term time.

Morning Session: 8:55am to 11:55am
Afternoon Session: 11:55am to 2:55pm
Full Day Session: 8:55am to 2:55pm

Funded Hours & Session Patters

Funding can be used across a variety of session patterns, subject to availability.

2 Full Days + 1 Morning 15 hours
2 Full Days + 1 Afternoon 15 hours
5 Full Days 30 hours
4 Full Days + 1 Morning 27 hours
4 Full Days + 1 Afternoon 27 hours
Bespoke combinations Subject to availability

Parents wishing to use funded hours alongside paid hours should contact us to discuss the most suitable arrangement.

Charges

Session Fees (For Non-Funded Hours)

Consumables

There is no charge for consumables.

Children accessing funded places receive the same high-quality provision regardless of whether parents purchase additional hours or services.

Meals, Snacks & Personal Care

The pre-school provides:

  • Daily healthy snacks
  • Milk during sessions
  • Access to all learning resources and activities

Parents are asked to provide:

  • Nappies (if required)
  • Wipes
  • Sun cream

Children attending all-day sessions may:

  • Bring a packed lunch from home, or
  • Order a hot school meal through the school’s catering provision

Optional Extras

We occasionally organise visits, visitors or special enrichment activities to enhance children’s learning experiences.

Where a trip or special activity is planned:

  • Parents will be informed in advance.
  • Any voluntary contribution requested will be clearly communicated beforehand.
  • No child will be excluded from the normal educational provision if parents choose not to contribute.

Our Commitment to Families

We are committed to providing an inclusive, accessible and high-quality early years education. Children accessing funded places receive the same curriculum, experiences and opportunities as those attending paid sessions.
