Pupil Premium

At Huncote Primary School we are guided by our values. It is our mission to ensure that every child, regardless of background or starting point, is given the opportunity to grow, flourish and fulfil their potential.

All staff are committed to providing an inclusive education rooted in respect, kindness and compassion. The Pupil Premium funding plays a vital role in helping us to remove barriers to learning, close the attainment gap and support the development of the whole child.

Please see the report below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding

Pupil Premuim funding is additional money given to the school by the government for children who:

  • are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or have been in the last six years (Ever 6)
  • are looked after or have been adopted from foster care
  • have a parent serving in the armed forces

The purpose of the funding is to raise achievement and improve outcomes for pupils who may face additional challenges that impact on their learning.

At Huncote Primary School, we use our Pupil Premium funding thoughtfully and strategically to ensure that every eligible pupil feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our values-based approach guides how we use the funding to:

  • Provide targeted teaching and intervention programmes to support progress
  • Enable access to educational visits and enrichment activities that broaden horizons
  • Support emotional wellbeing and mental health through ELSA intervention
  • Invest in resources and staff development to strengthen quality-first teaching

Our decisions are shaped by evidence (using the EEF Toolkit) and by what we know works best for our children. We regularly review the impact of our actions and adapt our provision to meet evolving needs, always keeping our school values at the heart of everything we do.

Our values-based ethos shapes everything we do. We believe every child is unique, and deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and opportunity.

We are committed to:

  • Holding high expectations for all pupils, regardless of background or circumstance
  • Providing individualised support that meets each child’s needs
  • Building strong partnerships with families to support learning and wellbeing both at home and in school
  • Creating a school environment where every child feels a sense of belonging, aspiration, and purpose

Our values—such as kindness, resilience, respect, and perseverance—are woven into daily life, helping children grow into confident, compassionate individuals.

We are committed to transparency and accountability. Each year, we publish a Pupil Premium Strategy that outlines:

  • How we intend to spend the funding
  • The rationale behind our spending decisions
  • The impact of previous spending on outcomes for disadvantaged pupils

If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium funding, please get in touch with the school office in confidence. There is no visible difference in your child’s experience at school, but the additional support can have a positive and lasting impact.

We’ve noticed that some families wait until their child reaches Year 3, when Universal Free School Meals end, before applying. However, it’s really important to apply as early as possible—even if your child is in Reception, Year 1, or Year 2 and already receiving free meals.

Pupil Premium funding helps us provide:

  • Extra support and interventions tailored to your child’s needs
  • Access to enrichment activities and wider opportunities
  • Resources that enhance learning and wellbeing

The earlier you apply, the sooner your child can benefit from this valuable support.

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible or would like help with the application, please contact the school office. We’re here to help and happy to support you through the process.
